The project started in 2003 and will finish in 2006; is placed in the heart of Central Alps, in the west part called "Retiche Alps". The objective is the restoration and exploitation of some habitat, some of them are priority habitat, typical of wetlands and alpine meadows, that are endangered or degraded by human direct or indirect actions.

Bittern - Botaurus stellaris              

In this area there is a very particular and unique concurrence of different habitat, gathered in five SCI here illustred:

4. Valle di Mello – Piano di Preda Rossa, IT 2040020
5. Bagni di Masino – Pizzo Badile – Pizzo del Ferro, IT 2040019

(global extension 12086 ha).

Every SCI hosts a series of priority habitat and they'll be object of specific actions. Part of the actions take place on "State Forests". Another objective is to made a net of consents towards forms of using the lands and involves in this operation the interested Mountain Communities and the alpine guide association present in the valley (Association of Val Chiavenna guide, Association "Il Gigiat").
